Help your district avoid the risk.

Train all of your principals how to investigate civil rights complaints - the right way.

  • Has your district received a harassment complaint?

  • Has your district received a discrimination complaint?

  • Are you unsure, overwhelmed, and/or confused about what to do when you receive a harassment complaint?

  • Are you sick of handling harassment complaints only to have them come up again?

  • Are you confident that the key people in your district know how to investigate civil rights complaints?

Hi, I'm Katy Dahl.

I was appointed as the Nondiscrimination Coordinator in district policy, but until I faced my first discrimination and harassment complaint I didn’t understand what that meant.

Then, when the first complaint came, I was confused, scared, and unsure of where to turn for help. I had no idea where to start.

Investigating the complaint was my responsibility, but I didn’t have any training to do so, and neither did anyone else in my district.

By working with a number of people, and doing a lot of piecing together the information, combined with training from numerous resources, I learned how to work through complaints of discrimination and harassment - and now I teach others to do the same.

I help public school districts learn how to handle civil rights complaints by teaching them a step-by-step investigation process.

This online course will teach your principals and support staff how to:

  • Recognize complaints

  • Prepare for the investigation

  • Use your own policy to handle complaints

  • Create custom templates for use in an investigation

Help administrators follow their own policy, reducing risk of non-compliance.

  • Resolve complaints and finalize investigations

Provides a framework that can be applied to any situation that requires investigation, not just civil rights complaints.
